Security & Trust FAQ

How we protect your identity, listings, and meetups.

Direct answers to the questions diaspora users ask before signing up. No marketing fog: just what we store, what we don't, and where our protection ends.

Identity is verified through your existing Google or LinkedIn account via OAuth. We never ask for government IDs, photos of IDs, SSNs, immigration documents, or scans of any official paperwork.

What we store:

  • Display name + email (from Google/LinkedIn)
  • Profile photo (the one you already use on Google/LinkedIn)
  • A hashed account identifier we use to match listings to you

What we never store:

  • Passwords (Google/LinkedIn handle authentication)
  • ID numbers, SSNs, immigration document data
  • Biometric data or document scans

Data lives in Google Cloud Firestore (US region), encrypted at rest and in transit. You can request a full export or full deletion at any time from Account → Profile.
