The rules, in plain English.

ChaiandCity is a community marketplace built and operated by Veklo LLC, a Texas limited liability company (the operator of ChaiandCity). Veklo LLC does not currently publish a public street address; it can be reached for legal, privacy, and general inquiries at hello@veklo.io. We provide the platform that connects buyers, sellers, and community members. We are not a party to any transaction that takes place between members.

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and to buy, sell, or otherwise transact on ChaiandCity.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You may not create multiple accounts or share your account with others.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

When you post a listing, you confirm that you have the right to sell or offer the item or service, and that the description is accurate.

You may not list, offer, solicit, advertise, sell, exchange, or facilitate the transfer of any of the following on ChaiandCity. We may remove, quarantine, or refuse to publish any listing or message in these categories without prior notice, restrict or terminate accounts, preserve relevant records, and cooperate with lawful investigations.

Weapons and dangerous goods. Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and weapon parts, components, kits, or accessories; and any item whose primary purpose is to inflict serious bodily harm where its transfer is restricted or prohibited by law.

Controlled substances and related items. Illegal drugs and controlled substances; prescription drugs and prescription-only medical devices; drug paraphernalia; and dangerous, misbranded, or unapproved supplements or substances marketed for unlawful or unsafe use.

Stolen, counterfeit, recalled, and unlawfully imported goods. Stolen property or goods you are not authorized to sell; counterfeit, replica, or trademark- or copyright-infringing items; recalled products; and goods imported, possessed, or distributed in violation of law.

Human exploitation and child safety. Anything related to human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or commercial sexual services; and any content that sexually exploits or endangers a minor, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Suspected child sexual exploitation is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and handled under applicable law.

Identity, document, and credential fraud. Fake or fraudulent identification, forged or falsified documents, immigration- or visa-fraud services, proxy interviewing or impersonation-for-hire, stolen credentials or accounts, and any goods or services that enable identity theft or credential fraud.

Wildlife and regulated biological materials. Protected, endangered, or regulated wildlife, animal parts, ivory, and regulated biological, hazardous, or radioactive materials whose transfer is restricted or prohibited by law.

Financial crime and gambling. Unlicensed gambling, lotteries, or betting; pyramid, Ponzi, or other unlawful financial schemes; money laundering; and payment fraud, including the sale of fraudulently obtained funds, instruments, gift cards, or payment credentials.

Age-restricted products. Alcohol, tobacco and vaping products, cannabis and cannabinoid products, and other age-restricted goods, unless and until ChaiandCity offers a separately approved, licensed, and age-verified flow for that category. Absent such an approved flow, these products are prohibited.

Food and regulated services. Foods that are excluded from sale under applicable cottage-food or retail-food law, or that are offered without the required registrations, licenses, labeling, or handling controls; and regulated or professional services offered without the licenses, permits, or authorizations the law requires.

General prohibition. Any product, service, or activity that is illegal or otherwise prohibited where it is offered, produced, delivered, or purchased, or that violates these Terms or our community guidelines. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive; we may treat other harmful, deceptive, or unlawful conduct as prohibited and act accordingly.

You retain ownership of the content you post (listings, photos, reviews, messages, and other materials). By posting or submitting content, you grant Veklo LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable (to our service providers and subprocessors) license to host, store, cache, back up, reproduce, reformat, resize, encode, and create technical derivative works of (for example, thumbnails and previews), publicly display and perform, distribute, and otherwise use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, improve, and promote the platform and its features. This license includes the right to screen, classify, quarantine, remove, or restrict content for safety, fraud-prevention, legal-compliance, and policy-enforcement purposes. The license ends when you or we remove the content, except that it survives to the extent reasonably necessary for backups, legal compliance, dispute resolution, enforcement, and content others have shared or that is part of community trust history (such as reviews). You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your content does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party.

Certain listing categories carry additional obligations, and by posting in them you make the corresponding attestations and accept the corresponding terms. Physical goods: you confirm you own or are authorized to sell the item, that it is accurately described, and that it is not stolen, counterfeit, recalled, unsafe, or prohibited. Home-prepared food: you are solely responsible for compliance with applicable cottage-food and retail-food laws, registration, licensing, labeling, temperature, handling, and delivery rules in every place where the food is produced and delivered; food categories are available only where a compliant flow is offered, and excluded foods are prohibited. Housing, sublease, and roommate listings: you agree to the Equal Housing Opportunity policy, may not express or apply preferences, limitations, or exclusions based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, disability, or other classes protected by applicable law, and, for subleases, you attest that you have obtained any landlord consent required by law; this attestation is recorded. Regulated or professional services: you attest that you hold all licenses, permits, and authorizations the law requires. Commercial or high-volume sellers: you agree to provide additional verification information we reasonably request and to comply with applicable marketplace-seller laws, including the INFORM Consumers Act, if and when payment processing or qualifying thresholds apply. We record the version, identity, listing, timestamp, source, and applicable category and jurisdiction of these attestations as durable compliance evidence.

Veklo LLC is not a party to any transaction between members. We do not inspect, warrant, or guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of any listing or service offered on the platform.

Responsibility for the condition of goods, delivery of services, and fulfilment of any agreement rests entirely with the buyer and seller. If a transaction goes wrong, use our dispute process, but understand that Veklo LLC's role is mediation, not financial remedy.

ChaiandCity allows members to offer home-prepared food (tiffins, baked goods, meals). Sellers are solely responsible for compliance with applicable local cottage food laws, food-handling regulations, and health codes. Veklo LLC does not inspect food listings and makes no warranty about food safety. Buyers consume home-prepared food at their own risk.

Many transactions on ChaiandCity involve in-person meetups. We strongly recommend using designated Safety Points for exchanges. These are public locations we suggest but do not own, staff, or monitor.

The SOS check-in feature is a tool to notify your emergency contact if you do not confirm safety after a meeting. It is not a substitute for calling emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Veklo LLC is not liable for harm that occurs during in-person meetings arranged through the platform.

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or intimidate other members.
• Post false, misleading, or deceptive listings.
• Attempt to circumvent Sentinel content screening.
• Scrape, data-mine, or copy platform content without permission.
• Use the platform to send spam or unsolicited commercial messages.
• Share personally identifiable information about other members outside of the platform.
• Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to create listings or send messages.

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account if you violate these terms, without prior notice in cases of serious violations (fraud, harassment, illegal content).

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at hello@veklo.io. We are rolling out self-service account deletion from your profile settings; until that is available, deletion is handled through this request-based process. We action verified deletion requests within 45 days of receipt and complete deletion across our systems within 30 days of confirming the request, except for limited records we are permitted or required to retain (see our Privacy Policy for the data-retention schedule and post-deletion window).

The platform and all content, listings, badges, trust signals, and features are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Veklo LLC disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from a course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, that any listing, member, or transaction is genuine, lawful, safe, or accurate, or that any defect will be corrected. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from us or through the platform creates any warranty not expressly stated in these terms. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Veklo LLC is not liable for:

• Disputes between buyers and sellers over goods or services.
• The accuracy or condition of any listing.
• Harm arising from in-person meetings arranged through the platform.
• Loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the platform.
• Actions of third-party services (Firebase, Google, OpenStreetMap, etc.).

Our liability, where it does apply, is limited to the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

If you have a dispute with another member, file a report at /report. We aim to respond within 24 hours. Disputes that involve criminal activity should be reported to local law enforcement in addition to filing a platform report.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any legal action must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Texas.

When we make material changes to these terms, we will notify members by email and post an update notice at the top of this page at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Paid plans, sponsorships, and advertising on ChaiandCity (including the Kaapi and Reserve subscription tiers and any promoted-listing or advertising product) are billed through our payment processor, Stripe. By starting a paid plan or purchase, you authorize Veklo LLC and Stripe to charge your selected payment method the applicable fees, plus any taxes, at the prices and on the billing cycle disclosed at checkout.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions and recurring products renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as selected) at the then-current rate, until you cancel. We will obtain any consent and provide any renewal reminders or notices required by applicable automatic-renewal laws in your jurisdiction. By subscribing, you consent to these recurring charges.

Cancellation. You may cancel a subscription at any time through the Stripe customer billing portal accessible from your account, or by emailing hello@veklo.io. Cancellation stops future renewals; it takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you retain access to paid features until that period ends. We do not require you to provide a reason to cancel.

Refunds. Fees are generally non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods, unused time, or features you did not use, except where required by applicable law or expressly stated at the point of purchase. We may, at our discretion, offer a prorated or full refund in cases of duplicate charges, billing errors, or service failures attributable to us. Where a non-waivable cancellation-and-refund right applies under your local law, that right controls.

Changes and failed payments. We may change plan prices and features on a going-forward basis with notice; price changes apply at your next renewal. If a charge fails, we may retry payment, suspend paid features, or downgrade the account until the balance is resolved. You are responsible for keeping your payment method current.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Veklo LLC and its members, managers, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the platform; (b) any listing, content, or message you post or transmit; (c) any transaction or in-person meeting you arrange through the platform; (d) your violation of these terms, our policies, or any applicable law; or (e) your violation of the rights of any third party, including intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or consumer-protection rights. We will provide you prompt written notice of any claim subject to indemnification, reasonable cooperation at your expense, and you may control the defense and settlement of the claim, except that you may not settle any claim in a way that imposes any obligation or admission on Veklo LLC or its indemnified parties without our prior written consent, and we may participate in the defense with counsel of our choosing at our own expense.

In accordance with the DMCA and our Copyright/DMCA Policy, Veklo LLC has adopted and reasonably implements a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of members who are repeat infringers of intellectual-property rights. A member who is the subject of two or more valid, unresolved infringement notices, or who engages in egregious or willful infringement, may be treated as a repeat infringer, and we may suspend or permanently terminate that member's account, taking into account the totality of the circumstances, including any counter-notices and the member's conduct history.

Veklo LLC is not liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, fire, flood, epidemic or pandemic, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action or regulation, labor disputes, power or internet failures, denial-of-service or other attacks, and the acts or failures of third-party service providers, hosting, payment, or communications infrastructure. Our obligations are suspended for the duration of the event, and the time for performance is extended accordingly.

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed modified so as to best accomplish the objectives of the original provision within the limits of applicable law.

You may not assign or transfer these terms, or any of your rights or obligations under them, without our prior written consent, and any attempted assignment in violation of this section is void. Veklo LLC may freely assign or transfer these terms, in whole or in part, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law. These terms bind and benefit the parties and their permitted successors and assigns.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Copyright/DMCA Policy, the community guidelines, and any category-specific terms or attestations presented to you, constitute the entire agreement between you and Veklo LLC regarding the platform and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, understandings, and communications, whether written or oral, on that subject. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision or any other.

We may provide legally effective notices to you by email to the address associated with your account, by posting within the platform, or by posting an update notice at the top of the relevant legal page; you are responsible for keeping your account email current. You may send legally effective notices to Veklo LLC at hello@veklo.io (with service-of-process and formal legal notices also directed there until a registered mailing address is published). Notices are deemed given when sent by email or posted, except that formal service of legal process is governed by applicable law.
